So, I finally got brave and entered a short story contest with an international magazine. The title of the story is The Passing of Millie Hudson. What is the fifteen second elevator pitch?
An old woman goes home for her sister's funeral and leaves behind an unforgettable gift.
From those who have read it, I have received the following comments:
"This is such a humorous, poignant and heart warming story." Kathleen Ayres, author
"...an awesome short story...The ending of this story is priceless." Denna Holm, author
"This is really, really good, a lovely little story that was both a little sad and uplifting." Rich Hawkins, author
"I think your story is fantastic!...The vernacular you use really sets the tone of the story." Jess Kennedy-Williams, published author, Founder and Executive Director International Association of Aspiring Authors.
There have been others who have given me words of encouragement, enlightenment, and providede their unbiased opinions and crucial editing eyes. To all of you I extend a warm and heart felt Thank You. Without all of your help, comments and support, Millie Hudson might still be sitting on my computer screen looking back at me, snickering.
I'll keep you posted on the contest. The deadline is March 30 and the site says it takes about a month to announce the results. Please say lots of prayers and send good karma my way. It would really make my day to win.
